Training and Experience

This website is just one of several designed and maintained by Creative License. We don't just provide content for sites. We build most sites from scratch (for Joomla sites we use Joomla templates and modify them extensively). Since our background is primarily in print media, our site designs often resemble printed material rather than having the look of typical sites. We like white space and open, uncluttered presentations.

If you need a new site or you're ready for a redesign of your current site, contact us. We will design a new look at no charge to you. If you like it, we can move quickly to bring your new site to life, and we can provide far more help with content creation than you will get from most website building services. We can deliver a complete package, from concept to completion.

Content Creation (SEO)

There are plenty of gimmicks out there that promise to drive traffic to your website. Some actually work. Still, the best way to attract people to your site is to offer content that is attractive, professional and useful to the viewer. We are marketing experts, and we understand that one key to marketing success is providing value to the customer. We can help you make the content on your site relevant and useful to your audience. That goes for all content: the words, the photos and the other graphic elements.

Domains and Hosting

We are not a hosting or domain registry service, but we work closely with other businesses that provide those services. We can recommend hosting companies and take care of the details to help you find a place for your site to live on the internet. We will make sure the host performs to your expectations. You don't need to know anything about how the system works.

Samples of Sites and Pages

SteelCrest Registers and Grilles: The Interactive Design Center included with this commercial site uses a Flash slideshow feature to allow users to choose a register design and view it in any of the available color coatings. Creative License also built a second website to serve as an intranet for SteelCrest and distributors of its products in the United States. The intranet allows registered users to log in and see content that is specific to their requirements.

Arizona Railroad Depot: This Phoenix company sells the recreational trains used in theme parks, zoos and tourist spots all over the world. Their largest train is a 1/2 scale steam locomotive replica with a capacity of more than 200 adult passengers. The site serves as a showcase for the trains, including those that ride on rails and others that ride on rubber tires.

My NB Fitness Community: This site is built using Joomla, a content management system that allows the site owners to easily update and control content on the site. A few pages are available for the general public, but most of the content, including a large library of videos, is available only to logged in members. Registration is free.

Steel Solutions: This simple site showcases products and services from a Phoenix metal shop. The site received a makeover in 2009 to improve its placement in search engines like Google. The results were dramatically successful, and the site routinely lands on the first page of results for the targeted search terms.

Generation Health Magazine: A popular Phoenix print magazine wanted to have an online version. We created a workflow process that lets writers create articles online for editor approval before pages become visible to the public.

KidSteam: This Dallas company builds and sells a variety of products for amusement parks, zoos, family entertainment centers and similar kid-friendly attractions. Creative License designed the current site as an adaptation of an earlier design done by another web company. The KidSteam site incorporates an online store with a shopping cart. Google Analytics and Ad Words are used extensively to keep the site visible in a highly competitive market space.

TJR Designs: The owner of this site is an illustrator who wanted a site that would serve as his portfolio. He required a site that met his standards for precise placement of graphics and type. The CSS for the site had to be carefully tweaked to assure all elements appeared just right. The site includes a custom Flash animation of four images rotating to the front.

Flash Animations

Most internet users are familiar with the annoying strobe-light style animations often used to draw attention to advertising on a page. We can do that, but we focus our efforts on less intrusive animations. Here are some samples:.

Animaniacs: This animation was created for a site selling custom illustrations for children's literature.

SteelCrest Introductory Page: This animation was built to serve as the intro page for a home-decor products company. It's a complex animation with dozens of keyframes, and it loads slowly on anything other than a very fast internet connection.

Racetrack: A regional bank wanted an animation to illustrate how much faster and more convenient their online deposit system is when compared to the traditional method of driving to the bank to make a deposit.

Interactive Design Center: The client wanted visitors to be able to view all the designs available and all the possible color coatings. There is no animation involved, but the pages use Flash to allow users to click a thumbnail or color to change the large image on the page.

Crossing Signal: We converted static images of three crossing signals to show how they would look in action.

Video on Your Site

Demand for video on web sites has exploded as more people have upgraded to high-speed connections. Converting video to look good on the web and to work properly with various browsers and operating systems is still a challenge. We can take your video to your website. You can have streaming or progressive video in your choice of formats (Flash, Quicktime, Windows Media).

Just Like Me Fitness: Video exercise routines are this site's primary product. The site contains more than 50 video exercise clips ranging from about five minutes in length to full workouts of nearly an hour. Creative License shot video (usually on location at a residence), edited the footage and processed it to a size and format suitable for the site. Most of the site videos are viewable only by logged in members.

Baker's Travertine Power Clean: This site uses a number of actual videos and videos that were created from still images. Videos are included on the site, on YouTube, in a Picassa Gallery and on iTunes.
